Strings Program

Dear String Parents,

Our first ever Recital Night was a smashing success!!! Students and parents left feeling enthusiastic and inspired.  The string department has had many requests for students to switch from pair to private lessons.  Thanks to parents, students, tutors, and crew for helping to create a wonderful experience for all involved.

The timetable for next term has been completed.  If you wish to switch to private lessons and haven’t contacted us, there may not be room in the schedule to accommodate your request.  If you have concerns, please leave a message for Susanna at the main office.

The Shearwater Ensemble will be commencing with rehearsals week 1 of term 3.

Participation in the ensemble is by invitation only.  Students who demonstrate proficiency due to regular practice and an expression of enthusiasm on their chosen instruments have been selected by their tutors to participate.

Dale Jones has been chosen as Ensemble Conductor. Dale is a valued member of the staff who teaches cello. He also teaches and directs ensembles at the Samford Steiner School in Brisbane. He is an accomplished musician who has freelanced with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as well as other distinguished performance groups around Australia.

The ensemble will rehearse from 2-3 in the Primary Music room Wednesday afternoons.

Being asked to play in this group is an honour.  This is a performance group for students who wish to stretch their playing skills and grow as musicians.  Regular practice, rehearsal preparedness, punctuality and respectful behaviour are expected. Students will be asked to leave the group if they are unable to meet these expectations.

Until next term, wishing you all happy and restful holiday break.

Cheers!
